July 20th
Forgot to mention that I discovered I was missing my wallet in the morning of July19th. It was found by the Oceanview Motel night watchman in the pub. Probably fell out of my purse. Very relieved to have it back!!!! He deserved a good reward.
Miserable rainy day. Finally checked e-mails and did blog and laundry. John and Sherryl invited us for dinner-delicious Louisanna chicken and sausage gumbo. We enjoyed another evening of Anchors Aweigh band until 1 a.m. I kept a close eye on my wallet.
July 21th
Foggy and raining cats and dogs. I got a good hair cut and blow dry for $16.00, cheapest ever.
We toured around the area with John and Sherryl and went on I'se da Bye boat tour of Bonne Bay. We saw minkie whales and bald eagles as well as beautiful scenery. Music and a screech in were part of the tour.
A shuttle bus picked us up at the campground for a hour long drive to Gros Morne Theater in Cows Head. Play "Double Axe Murder" was good.Glad we were not driving our vehicle back on the windy, foggy ,rainy shore road . Hitting a moose was a possibility.
July 22nd
After 3 days of rain we were able to go on the Western Brook Pond Boat tour. Up at 5 am and off for a 20 minute drive north and a 1 hour hike on gravel path and boardwalk over a bog to meet the boat tour. Western Brook Pond Fjord was carved by glaciers billions of years ago. It's 16 km lake is Gros Morne's largest lake. Outstanding sceneryand worth waiting to see. Left KOA at 2 pm and arrived at Doyles at 6 pm.
Finally we saw our first moose (they say " 8 moose per square km"in Gros Morne). Sunny day 24 Deg. C.. Went for a Jiggs Nfld dinner. Having a campfire tonight. Off to catch the ferry to North Sydney at 8 am and will be up by 5am.Newfoundland has been wonderful-the people, the scenery, the food, the music,etc,etc.-we"ll come back someday.
