August 1st
We drove 50 minutes to Cape Sable Island to visit Ralph's cousin Ken. It is about 40 kms. around the Island mainly fishing. The "Cape Islander" boats are wide and large with the latest sonar and electronic navigation systems on board. Some boats had the crownest and harpoons for fishing swordfish and others were unloading pollack and haddock. The area is the lobster capital of Canada(season November-May).Ken,Ralph and I picked up fresh fried scallops and haddock for a picnic on a white sand beach(across the Atlantic is England).27 degrees C.We invited Larry & family,Ken & girlfriend Bonnie for a bar-b-que and campfire in the evening.
August 2nd
As we drove to Shelburne in the morning we saw a porcupine. The city is a historic Loyalist town with a beautiful waterfront and chainsaw pine wood carvings of fisherman, lighthouses, and animals around the town.In the afternoon we went to Cape Sable Island visited a museum and another beautiful beach(too cold for swimming).I bought a gorgeous hand-made quilt from Larry and Ken 's aunt Doreen - the stitching is excellent. We had a delicious dinner of freshly caught baked haddock and new veggies at Larry's.It was good to see them again.
August 3rd
Six wild turkeys crossed our path as we left Clyde River Campground. We drive 5 hours across Nova Scotia from south to north to spend the long weekend with Janet and Carl at their cottage on Caribou Island. We set up camp on their property. It was very hot and humid 32 Deg C . We enjoyed a spectacular lightning show over the Northumberland Strait in the evening.
August 4th ---Happy 29th ,Carol and Happy Birthday, Carl Canning.
Janet and I drove to Pictou (beautiful waterfront) and did some shopping. We had oysters rockafella as a appetizer before a delicious birthday dinner for Carl. Joshua and Elijah picked the oysters from the shore earlier. We watched another lightning show over P.E.I tonight(3 storms in one and power outages on PEI).

I read your blog every chance I get, glad to hear you are having a great time, can't wait to see your new quilt Marie. We had a great time in Loon Lake, back at work now. I shopped lots in Spokane, bought the kids lots, can't wait to see them this week end. We left late Friday afternoon from resort and stayed the night in Cranbrook and got up early and carried on right to Sylvan-that worked very well. Must say, Bruce is getting good at putting the tailer in so tight in our lot there. Lisa and family were camping last week end so didn't get to see my babies-3 weeks is a long time for Nana to wait!
Must leave for work now -
Love Bruce and Linda
