August 15th
We drove the Blue Heron Coastal Drive on the north side of PEI . We stopped at all the famous PEI beaches along the way-Dalvey,Cove Head,Brackley,Stanhope and Cavendish. We walked the beaches and dipped our feet in the Atlantic,a bit cold for swimming. The beaches are beautiful --fine red sand with surrounding sand dunes and red cliffs. At Brackley,we bumped into a former Esso worker Chris Wilkes from Calgary. We browsed through craft stores and The Toy Factory(wooden toys made on PEI) . In the evening we visited Rob,Barb and Mom.

Our truck needed a oil change in the am. We drove to Summerside and had a nice visit and lunch with Marcia MacFarland. (worked 38 years ago with her at Summerside hospital).
She made Scottish Meat Pie and biscuits.(very tasty) .After we got back we had a afternoon nap (feeling very exhausted) .In the evening we picked up Mom and went to Sandland. Sandland is a exhibition of sand castles and sculptures depicting Island history(made from PEI red soil).Beautiful. Finished off the evening with Cows Icecream.
